Fixed taxi fares between Gangtok to Nathula.
To curb the overcharging of visitors to Sikkim, the state government has fixed taxi fares for the journey between Gangtok and Nathula. According to an official order issued by C S Rao, Principal Secretary of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, the round-trip fares for both the standard and luxury vehicles have been set. The average round-trip from Gangtok to Nathula has been fixed at Rs 6,000; for luxury vehicles, it has been set at Rs 7,000. It is inclusive of permit charges.
In response to several complaints by tourists regarding the high prices of tour operators in Sikkim, the state government has taken immediate and proactive measures. These measures include the regulation of taxi fares between its capital Gangtok and the popular Nathula Pass, and are also immediately applicable to Tsomgo Point and Baba Mandir Point.
