Discover Bhutan Tour, Itinerary

After arriving paro, you will be driven to Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan. The scenic drive is about one and half hour.
After breakfast, hike to Taktsang Monastery, which is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours uphill from the Paro Valley floor. For those unable to hike, a horse can be arranged for the transfer up to the cafeteria. In the afternoon, visit the almost fully reconstructed Drukgyel Dzong, which commemorates a victory against invading Tibetans in 1644. Enjoy the stunning backdrop of Mount Jomolhari. Late afternoon drive 1.5 hour to Thimphu (65 Kms) which is the capital of Bhutan.
Visit the Memorial Chorten, Changangkha monastery, and the Drupthob nunnery temple. Then, drive for 3 hours to Wangduephodrang, crossing the Dochula pass at 3100 meters. On a clear day, see the eastern Himalayan ranges, including Mt. Gangar Punsum at 7520 meters. Descend to the lower valleys of Lobesa, visit the Dzong and the market area, and stay overnight at the hotel.
Today, we'll have a long drive of about 6-7 hours, crossing 3 passes over 3000 meters. The route offers stunning views of the Himalayas, passing through hamlets, rhododendron forests, and pine. After 1.5 hours from Chendebji Chorten, we'll reach Trongsa, a town mainly consisting of Tibetan refugees and featuring the impressive Trongsa Dzong. Then, we'll proceed for another 2 hours to Bumthang, visit the Chume weaving centre, and stay overnight at Karma Tobden Guesthouse or similar.
Bumthang, at 2600m altitude, is known for its spiritual significance and legends of Guru Padmasambhava and Tertons. It is recognized for its woollen material (yathra) and attractions such as Jakar Dzong, Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Monastery, Tamshing, and Kunchosum Monastery. This sightseeing trip is more interesting on foot. Overnight at a hotel.
Today we will drive back to Wangduephodrang via Gangtay Valley (9/10hrs). Overnight at at hotel.
Visit the Punakha Dzong, the old capital of Bhutan, situated between two rivers. Every year in February, a procession known as the Punakha Serda takes place to commemorate the victory over the Tibetans. Then, drive to Thimphu for lunch, and continue for 2 hours to Paro, visiting the oldest building in Bhutan, the Simtokha Dzong, which now serves as a Buddhist university. Stay overnight at Kichu Resort or similar.
Breakfast in the hotel, then drive to the airport for a flight to your onward destination. Tashi Delek!
